sweets: Cotton Candy Creme Melts

Cotton Candy Creme Melts @mamamissblog #cottoncandy

Well, hello there cotton candy lovers! I’m here today to talk about my true passion – my adoration for all things cotton candy!

Speaking of cotton candy, it just made me think of our local grocery store, and the fact that they have cotton candy salt water taffy (oh my, sounds like my next conquest!) every summer in their bulk candy section.  It lasts about 3 weeks after they put it out, and each week I fill a bag full of cotton candy love!  Cotton candy taffy ALWAYS sells out first, why is this?  Is there a world shortage of cotton candy taffy?  Bread – check, milk – check, cotton candy taffy – check.  Are there cotton candy fanatics like me out there (I think the answer is yes, because to this day, {THIS} remains my most popular post ;)?  I just went to the grocery this week and they have every flavor left except cotton candy :(  It’s a sad, sad, day I must say.  I think there must be someone in my town who loves it as much as me and buys it all out!  Hear me now cotton candy person, I’m on to you ;)

But, I digress.

So I’ve come to the conclusion that, who needs to buy cotton candy treats when you can make them?!  Am I right?!

Enter, my newest cotton candy creation – Cotton Candy Creme Melts.  They are kind-of a cross between a mint and a creamy melt-away.  They are my perfection.

Do you wanna take part in this magical delight too?!  Here’s how :)

Cotton Candy Creme Melts

Yield: Approximately 7 dozen candies

A sweet and creamy cotton candy treat that simply melts in your mouth.

Ingredients

4 oz cream cheese
3/4 teaspoon Cotton Candy Flavored Duncan Hines Frosting Creations Flavor Mix
3 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons superfine sugar

Instructions

  1. Place cream cheese and 3/4 teaspoons of flavoring packet in mixing bowl; Mix until smooth and blended.
  2. Gradually add powder sugar; Mix until mixture becomes a stiff, thick consistency, like pie dough - do not over-mix.
  3. Remove mixture from bowl, and roll into small balls, 1/2-inch to 3/4-inch in size.
  4. Roll balls into superfine sugar; Then place on wax paper lined tray.
  5. Flatten balls slightly with the back of a spoon to form 1/4-inch thick patties.
  6. Cut flattened balls into scalloped shapes, using a 38mm (1 1/2-inch scalloped cutter), I have these.

Notes

Store cremes, tightly covered, in refrigerator (they also freeze well).

I am one of those cotton candy fanatics. Unfortunately I can’t find the Duncan Hines frosting flavor packs any longer. I think they discontinued them.

      Hi Brittany,

The cotton candy flavoring can be found at any grocery store in the cake mix isle. And the superfine sugar is different that granulated sugar, the granules are smaller, here is what the box looks like: http://www.dominosugar.com/sugar/superfine-sugar. Hope that helps! Thank you :) xx

Hey Lauren!! I’m pretty sure you can totally adapt it to whatever color/flavor – I just used the cotton candy flavoring packet, which is blue, so it dyed it blue. But I think if you replace the flavoring packet with some sort of other flavoring (maybe 1/2 – 1 teaspoon depending on the brand & strength of it) + food coloring it’s pretty much adaptable to anything. But, just experiment & see what works :) Hope that helps answer your question! xx M

Just stumbled upon your site tonight and can’t believe there’s someone out there who shares my same love for cotton candy; I thought I was the only one! Can’t wait to try all these recipes! (P.S. If you haven’t tried the cotton candy ice cream at target yet, I highly recommend it for a quick fix!).

These look so cool and sound delicious. Since we did a donut party this year for Jake’s birthday, I might have to think about a cotton candy party for next year with all of your fun, yummy treats.
