DIY Pencil Pouch

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Newell Rubbermaid, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #stockup4schools http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

What’s better for a new semester of homeschool, than some new markers, and a fab DIY Pencil Pouch?!  Absolutely nothing!  (I love school supplies!!!!)

This colorful DIY is beyond simple to make, and is such a fun addition to hold all your pencils, pens, & markers.

The beauty behind this DIY is you can really utilize your DIY design skills in any way!  Want to go bohemian, bring on the the hippy chick & flowers.  Want to go nautical, bring on the gold (there’s a sharpie for that!!) & bold navy stripes.

I’m a little obsessed with geometric design (surprise surprise), so I went geometric, with some hexagons.

I scooped up these “electro POP” Fine and Ultra Fine Point Sharpies at Staples because of the awesome colors in the pack – I mean c’mon, with names like Ultra Violet, Electric Pink, Nano Blue, Techno Blue, and Optic Orange – some serious color fun is about to happen (90’s techno anyone?)! Here’s the tutorial…

DIY Pencil Pouch

Supplies:

  • “electro POP” Fine and Ultra Fine Point Sharpies at Staples (plus for the entire week of January 24th save 35% off all regular priced Sharpie product at Staples, while supplies last).
  • canvas pencil bag
  • a scrap of plastic (a notebook sleeve cover or transparency sheet will work great)

Make it:

Using the ultra fine point markers, sketch out the template of your design on paper before you start to color on the canvas (there’s no erasing my friends, plus I’m a little type A).  Or throw caution to the wind & just start coloring ;) Open the zipper of the canvas pouch and place the plastic inside (so the marker design won’t seep through to the back layer).  Next, trace the outer edges with the ultra fine & then color in with the fine point Sharpies.  voilà you’re done!

Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives...not looking for flaws, but for potential.” - Ellen Goodman

🌟Potential. YESSSSS 🙌🏻 I really like this quote 🌟

🧐🔍Seeing the positive first is a great mantra to have when we tend to automatically gravitate towards things that are negative.

🪄Here’s to a bright 2021 and a purposeful positive outlook. 🎉

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!🌟🌟🌟 🤗 How did you HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!🌟🌟🌟

🤗 How did you celebrate the arrival of 2021?

🎲We played board games all night (cough cough surprise surprise 🤣) while munching on this charcuterie board.

🥳I surprised Eric & the kids by going all fancy for dinner last night. I wasn’t sure the kids would like the goat cheese (my favorite with fig spread 🤤) so I added some basic cheddar. But they LOVED it - I spread a little on one of the plain crackers with fig spread on top. So good!

🍈Fig spread, goat cheese, & 2 large crackers is from @wholefoods
🍇Grapes are from @costco (they have the best grapes!)
🪴Rosemary springs are from our garden.
🧀Everything else is from @traderjoes

Eeeeeep I’m so excited for my happy mail today!! Eeeeeep I’m so excited for my happy mail today!!🤗 (now if all my other mail I’m waiting on would arrive 🧐😩)

🦀🐙🐡I backed Open Ocean from @featherstonegames on @kickstarter this summer. It’s so incredibly neat to see a game come together from start to finish.

🐠🐟🐬This game is beautiful I can’t wait to sit to play with the kids as they become budding marine biologists.

He’s a little bit funky... a little bit rock n r He’s a little bit funky... a little bit rock n roll. - I’m kinda loving him though, my little abstract tree.🎄

🧵Right before my dad passed last year, during my last visit with him, he gave me this giant bag of these vintage-y wooden spools knowing that I’d use them in my art classes or some other creative way.

🧐As I was lesson planning this weekend the idea came to me when I peeked them in my wood craftin’ drawer - CHRISTMAS TREE!!

✂️I also have a simpler idea in mind with no wire bending/cutting to try it in my art classes as a kinda ‘extra’ project for early finishers. Stay tuned!

Happy Thanksgiving 🍁🦃🍽 I’m grateful th Happy Thanksgiving 🍁🦃🍽
I’m grateful this Thanksgiving for my Dad ❤️

📖📖📖When he was alive I’m not sure I appreciated this book as much, but now that he’s gone it’s made me appreciate him even more that he took the time to catalog all our family recipes into two cookbooks for us to have.

🦃🍁🍂This Thanksgiving without my mom joining us (she’s with friends this year) I was without her traditional treats like my favorite Pumpkin Cheesecake.

💪🏻So I attempted that (my first cheesecake EVER!) and Tussies (mini pecan pies) from scratch using my families recipes. I’m so excited to dig in today and the whole time making them made me feel extremely #grateful for my Dad & all he did for his family. 💕
