My love for sensory bins is bringing you more ♥ today!
What we have here is an archeological dig site for dinosaurs…or simply a dinosaur dig sensory bin ;)
To make one for your little ones, be sure to include some of these tools.
More specifically, here’s the lowdown on what I used to make this super cool dinosaur dig sensory bin for little Miss V:

assorted dry beans: I used black-eyed peas, large lima beans, split peas, & pinto beans (these are the rocks)

brown glass beads (more rocks – different texture)
-
plastic dinosaurs
-
popsicle sticks (digger & excavator)
-
rake (digger & excavator)
-
plastic soap holder (sorter)
-
egg carton (sorter)
-
sifter
-
measuring cup (sorter & measurer)
-
cardboard plant pot (sorter)
-
plastic container (specimen jar)
and voilà – it’s a Dinosaur Dig Sensory Bin! :)

Hi, I am just discovering these sensory bins. My son is 2.5 years old. Is he too old for these? Do you save these and bring them out again?
Hey Amy!! My little miss is 2 3/4 (she turns 3 in NOV :) & I definitely don’t think he is to old. Sensory bins are used in preschool & kindergarten all the time (I even love playing around in them with her :) I do save them. I store everything separately – for example, for this particular bin, I will store the beans in a large zip-lock & most likely reuse them for other bins. I then will separate the tools into a different area to use for other bins & baggie up the misc objects like the dinos. If your son is anything like my little gal this will occupy him for a great deal of time (well, toddler time that is ;). He will probably even sit for a longer time too because it will be his first bin. When I introduce a new bin to V she will sit for a good 45min – 1 hr at a time playing with it. Make sure you add lots of containers & scoops (they LOVE sorting & separating :)

Your sensory bin came out great! I love all of the different colors and textures. The glass beads threw me for a moment…I could not figure out what they were until I read your description.
